Official Rules & Regulations

1. The photography contest is open to all Malaysian citizens and foreign visitors.
2. Each participant is required to pay a registration fee of RM10.
3. All photographs must be taken within Penang Butterfly Farm locality only.
4. Participants must bring their own camera and equipments.
5. Participants agree not to harm, remove, displace or take home any of the insects or creatures inside the farm.
6. Penang Butterfly Farm cannot be held responsible for any unforseen circumstances or accidents which occurs inside the farm locality.
7. Participants can send in as many entries as they wish, however a participant can only win one (1) prize or place.
8. Each entry must be accompanied by the date of the image was taken and also a tagline for the photograph.
9. No digital super imposition is allowed. Composite photographs or any form of digital manipulations will not be accepted. Only minor image touch-ups such as cropping, adjustment of brightness and colors as well as softening or sharpening of the image are allowed.
10. Images submitted must be in a printed copy of an 8R (8 inch x 12 inches) size photo paper and also inside a CD of JPEG format only. The size of the image shall be no smaller than 3MB and in 300dpi. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
11. All photographs submitted must be originally produced and must have not been sold or granted permission to use to any other party. The copyright and any other rights (including the ownership, and right to use and display) of all images submitted shall remain with the Penang Butterfly Farm (Butterfly House (Pg) Sdn Bhd) after submission regardless of winning or not winning in the competition.
12. Assessment of the photograph will be based on technical quality, composition and originality and also tagline.
13. The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entertained.
14. Winners will be notified by telephone or via e-mail.
15. All winners will be invited to a Prize Giving Ceremony on the date determined by the organiser. Any other costs such as cost of travelling and food is to be borne by the winners.
16. Penang Butterfly Farm reserves the right to substitute the prizes with equivalent value.
17. Penang Butterfly Farm will not be held liable in the event of loss, personal injury, or death as a result of participation in the competition.
18. The closing date for this submission is by 17 November 2008. Submission after the stated date shall not be entertained.

By participating in this contest, participants agree to be bound by these official rules and regulations and the decisions by Penang Butterfly Farm and waive any right to claim ambiguity in this contest rules.
